I never knew of Mrs Shriver until recently - her work staggers me - truly an inspiration.
At the opening of World Games in 2000, Mrs. Shriver said [as best I can recall]: "Some people call you hanidcapped - I call you handi-capable!" Brilliant.
As an aspiring Adapted Physical Educator and a Special Olympics Coach I can honestly say that Mrs. Shriver is the first person I looked up to as an idol. Her determination and perseverance are truly awe-inspiring.
For more than 40 years the life and work of Eunice Kennedy Shriver have inspired millions to think differently. Give to Special Olympics in her memory
Thank you for your amazing contributions!
The look on an athletes face is as priceless as the look they see on your face when they're raising their hands in triumph thank you for the memories that have been made and tears of joy that have been shared throughout
I never personally knew Mrs. Shriver, but her presence still exists. I can feel it at every Special Olympics event and makes me wish I had known her. There are no words to describe this Civil Rights Leader and I am an athlete saying this. All I can say…
