To write a tribute about a legend is hard, especially one such as Eunice Kennedy Shriver. She did so much for so many and with such enthusiasm. All that came in contact with her, found themselves wanting to be a part of the Special Olympics movement.

We all have our stories about Mrs. Shriver, when she visited the programs around the world, but when we saw her at Special Olympic events all of us were amazed with her interaction with the Special Olympics athletes. The love and commitment was shone in every action.

Because of her, there are now more individuals with intellectual disabilities participating in Special Olympics programs. There are more living independently or in group homes and they are in the workplace contributing to their communities.

Thank you, Mrs. Shriver, for bringing individuals with intellectual disabilities out of the darkness into the sunshine. They make the world a brighter place. Thank you for bringing world acceptance to these exceptional people.
