Statement of Congressman Roy Blunt on Passing of Eunice Kennedy Shriver
SPRINGFIELD, MO - Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt today issued the following statement following the death of Eunice Kennedy Shriver:
"A tireless advocate for those with special needs and their families, Eunice Kennedy Shriver took her own family's challenge and turned it into a blessing for all of the families she helped through Special Olympics, Best Buddies, and other determined efforts.
"Through the years that I worked with her to assist the Special Olympics, I learned a lot about determination and grit from watching her fight to help the athletes who had become her extended family.
"My thoughts and prayers are with her family."
Congressman Roy Blunt came to the United States House of Representatives in 1997 with a background as a public servant, university president and administrator. He represents Missouri's 7th District.
Blunt serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
