Statement on the passing of Eunice Kennedy Shriver
Today we mourn the loss of a heroine who not only stood up for what was just, but who fought for it with a passion and determination that few can rival. Because of her vision, individuals with intellectual disabilities in South Africa have a home today, they have a family, they are free and that is a legacy we shall honour and guard for eternity in South Africa. My heartfelt condolences go to the Shriver and Kennedy families at their loss and I would like to extend my gratitude too, for the selfless act of sharing her with the world.
