Lindy Boggs statement on Eunice Shriver

We all know Eunice Shriver's landmark work with the Special Olympics, but she was also a great politician and a great "gal." She could always be counted on to bring her considerable skills to the political campaigns of her many friends, and her considerable humor to the celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries and other events. She used her keen intellect and organizational ability to aid the mentally ill when mental illness was a taboo subject. And she worked tirelessly for children all of her life--including raising a remarkable family. I will sorely miss my old friend.
